Landlords and tenants alike can find themselves in a position of feeling they are dealing with a legal issue. In these situations, there are lawyers who are just right. Tenant and landlord law lawyers can help either party. Here are some examples of some of the various types of things that this type of lawyer can assist with and knowing this information can help you determine times when you may want to consult with one of these lawyers: 

Disputes over rent and eviction over non-payment

If a tenant is late with the rent, or they are coming up with excuses why they don't feel they have to pay, then a landlord may decide to evict them. This is something the landlord can do on their own. However, new landlords might want to hire the services of a lawyer until they feel confident with going through the procedure on their own. On the other hand, a tenant may want to hire a lawyer because there is a reason they feel they don't owe some or all of the rent, such as when certain repair issues are being ignored. In this case, the tenant should hire a lawyer to advise them and help them through any court proceedings that come from the issue. 

Eviction matters

There can be other reasons besides not paying rent that has caused a landlord to decide to evict a tenant. If the issue is complex, such as evicting someone for violating something in the lease like being bothersome to neighbors, then a lawyer can help ensure the landlord wins the eviction case. A tenant may be being evicted for something like being a nuisance, but it was all a misunderstanding or something out of their control. They can fight the eviction in court and a lawyer helps to increase their chances of winning. 

Lease issues

There are a lot of resources where a landlord can get a lease. However, it's best if they have a lease drawn up through a lawyer or have a lawyer look at the lease they want to use. Leases will differ because laws in different states vary. The landlord needs to know the lease they are using will hold up legally in the state their rental is in and a lawyer can help with this. A tenant may want to have a lawyer look a lease over and explain anything they don't understand to them before they sign and return it.
